Banham 130 Spyder
I’m the fourth owner of my Banham 130 Spyder which I bought in December 2022 having seen it at the NEC Classic Motor Show in November. Originally built in Cumbria between 1999 and 2000 by a chap who owned her until 2009 covering 3,100 miles. The donor car was a 1989 Skoda Estelle 120 fitted with a similar aged Skoda 135/8 engine plus a Weber 40 type side draft carburettor. The original reg number was changed to her current 1964 reg and she’s registered with the DVLA as a Porsche 550 Spyder.
The second owner kept her for 12 years covering 1,200 miles. He had the tonneau cover made, ran her until 2016 and then put her into long term storage when he moved abroad. She was professionally recommissioned in 2021 including replacing the fuel lines and fitting a new electronic fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator.
The third owner bought her in mid-2022, had her serviced by a classic car specialist in Loughborough who fitted a new fuel sender unit, and made some cosmetic improvements (Porsche badge kit, Pegasus decals, ivory dashboard switches, hub caps) before selling her to me. I enjoy both driving and tinkering with the Spyder, having made lots of small improvements so far.
